Local Women & Children need your help!
Join us in supporting Interval House of Hamilton
by donating to the House Full of Hope Campaign

Dear Friends;

Each year we ask our friends and colleagues to help us support the House Full of Hope Campaign by donating non-perishable food, personal care items, unwrapped children’s toys and cash donations to Interval House of Hamilton.

Interval House of Hamilton is a twenty-two bed residential shelter that offers a safe environment, essential living needs and counselling for victims of violence. Each year Interval House opens its doors to hundreds of victims of domestic abuse. Interval House also manages the Women’s Centre of Hamilton, the Flamborough Women’s Resource Centre and Jared’s Place Legal Advocacy and Resource Centre for Women. At this time of year, we ask you to help us support these women and children.

Your donations to the House Full of Hope Campaign will be gratefully accepted any time between now and December 15th. We at Albanese Branding thank you in advance for your generosity.

Season’s Greetings!

The Albanese Branding Team

01/14/10 House Full of Hope Campaign - Clare Freeman

Dear Jim:

On behalf of the women and children, staff and board we would like to extend a BIG thank you for your support of our House Full of Hope Campaign during the holidays.

Through your participation we were able to raise over $10,000.00 in food, toys and financial donations and witness the smiles and tears of thanks from women who would not have had a happy holiday. I wish you could see the joy your efforts are bringing to families who are trying to transition away from living in violence. As you may know, leaving is the most dangerous and difficult time for anyone. The struggle goes beyond just the emotional and involves fear of further harm to herself and child, financial, housing and most often involves going through lengthy court process. Your support allows us to be there every step of the way. We have an emergency shelter, counseling and legal advocacy programs.

This holiday I was particularly touched by one woman’s story of losing her part-time job due to cut backs just as she got herself out of a violent relationship. She is struggling to stay in post-secondary school, raise her son alone and pay her rent. She refuses to give up. She has never used a food bank or asked for any hand outs but as she realized there would be no presents or food for her son she called. She told me she will never forget the gifts and food you provided and when she is on her feet again, she will give back.

Once again thank you for believing in our work and in the vision of a world and homes without violence.

Sincerely,

Clare Freeman
Executive Director

05/09/09 - Conservation Month
Last winter, Pioneer Energy, a proud partner of Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters announced a commitment to sponsor environmental education field trips hosted by the Lake Ontario Atlantic Salmon Restoration Program. As part of these 80+ school field trips, over 1,200 students were directly involved in stream restoration projects in parts of Lake Ontario's watershed. They also assisted in the release of Atlantic Salmon.

Over 80 schools representing a dozen school boards raised Atlantic Salmon in their very own classroom hatcheries. Each classroom program gave students an opportunity to release their fish and help bring back an ecological treasure to Lake Ontario.

In May, 2009 Pioneer stations hosted "Conservation Month at Pioneer" to help support environmental education and conservation events, such as "Pioneer Day on Bronte Creek." In addition to helping kids learn about the environment, Pioneer is dedicated to supporting O.F.A.H. lead stream improvement projects and the restoration of Lake Ontario Atlantic Salmon.

The Lake Ontario Atlantic Salmon Restoration Program's classroom hatchery initiative is part of the history-making conservation endeavor that was launched in 2006 by the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters and its conservation partners. Pioneer's support was an extension of its corporate commitment to environmental integrity and education. As a corporate philosophy, Pioneer supports programs that encourage individuals to help improve our environment.

12/20/08 - A Tough Economy is Not the Time for Cruise Control - Jim Albanese
It´s a fact of life that most markets shrink in tough economic times - and when markets shrink, all things being equal, our business revenues will also shrink. Shrinking revenues spell disaster for many businesses, especially if they were just hanging on when markets were good. Weaker competitors often go out of business, creating more revenue opportunities for the businesses that remain. While this helps in most cases, the new revenue shared among surviving businesses is not enough to offset the revenue lost during a tough shrinking economy. open pdf

07/09/07 - Clare Freeman, Executive Director of Interval House of Hamilton, Domestic Violence Advisory Council Chair
In the fall of 2007, the Domestic Violence Advisory Council, chaired by Clare Freeman, the Executive Director of Interval House of Hamilton, and 14 other members with expertise on violence against women, was established to provide advice on improving the existing system of supports and services for abused women and their children in Ontario.

The Council members who brought a wealth of expertise from the community, health, policing and the justice sectors were asked to focus their work on recommendations that could be achieved by making better use of existing resources and build on promising practices. Entitled Transforming our Communities, the report makes 45 recommendations for preventing and responding to violence against women in Ontario and calls for government to adopt a “gender-based” approach to ending "domestic violence" as a core aspect of government policy.
